What is the total time commitment for the 40-Hour Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification course?
The CMA certification course requires a total of 40 hours of training plus 1 hour for testing. It is currently offered as an online hybrid format.
The hybrid course requires students to complete 24 hours of coursework online before coming into the school in Omaha, Nebraska, to complete the remaining 16 hours of hands-on classroom instruction and testing.
What is the total cost for the 40-hour CMA course, and what does it include?
The total course cost is $360. This includes the $260 tuition, plus the required state exam fees: $50 for the Written Exam and $50 for the Clinical Exam. Testing fees are included and taken on-site.

What are the enrollment requirements for the CMA course in Nebraska?
You must be at least 18 years of age, able to speak, read, write & understand English, attend class at a QCP Campus in Omaha, NE and be aware of and within the eligibility requirements for placement on the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry.
Is a CNA license a prerequisite for the CMA course at QCP?
No. You do NOT need to have an active or previous Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license in order to enroll in the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course.
What is the difference between a CNA and a CMA?
The primary difference is the scope of practice: the CNA is the entry-level role focused on basic patient care and assistance with daily living needs. The CMA identifies specific and critical skills of administering medications to patients under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional.

Under the direction of a licensed nurse, a CMA’s primary role is to administer oral and topical medications to patients. This includes following the five rights of medication administration and monitoring a patient’s vitals and behavior while on medication.
Can I take the CMA state exams at Quality Career Pathways if I took the course elsewhere?
Yes. QCP is a state-approved testing provider. If you completed your course at a different location, you can register to sit for the written exam for a fee of $50 per attempt. You do not re-take the skills exam.
