Supervisor:  Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, and Director of Nursing

Qualifications: 

  • Currently in the Nursing Assistant Registry. 
  • Is at least 18 years old.
  • Proof of legal right to work in the USA.
  • Able to speak, write, and read English.
  • Physical, emotional, and mental capability to perform essential functions of position.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Follows established performance standards and performs duties according to nursing department policies and procedures.
  • Assists new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
  • Identifies safety hazards and emergency situations and reports to supervisor.
  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.  Find own replacement if not able to work as scheduled.
  • Perform ADL’s under direction the of the charge nurse, per facility policy, state regulations, care plan and within the scope of a CNA.
  • Accurately documents and records all entries on flow sheets or ECS as required.
  • Reports all incidents, accidents and changes in resident’s condition to charge nurse immediately.
  • Observes infection control techniques by using good hand washing, care of linens/equipment, introduction to isolation technique, and standard precautions.
  • Participates in in-service training and continuing education to fulfill requirements to maintain certification on a current status.
  • Reports all suspected cases of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation immediately per facility policy. 
  • Ensure that you treat all residents fairly, and with kindness, dignity and respect. 
  • Follow the facilities “Not No But How” philosophy.  Portray a positive attitude.
  • Promote teamwork.
  • Reports complaints or grievances to charge nurse or DON.  Gives resident or family a complaint form as needed.  Assist resident in filling out form as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all resident care and facility information.
  • Understand and adhere to the Resident Rights policy.
  • Dress in a clean, neat and professional scrub uniform with a positive attitude.
  • Check and restock supplies and linens as per policy.
  • Meet requirements of medium to med-heavy lifting job demands as defined by post hire screen through FRHS.

Other Job Duties:

  • Performs errands, directing visitors, and answering phones as needed.
  • Maintain resident’s rooms and work areas neatly and in an orderly manner.
  • Assume accountability for policies contained in the “Employee Handbook”.
  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary by supervisory staff.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must complete health history screen, immunization status, and notice of reportable conditions to prevent the transmission of disease to residents.
  • Must be able to push, pull and move 40 pounds.
  • Able to work with occasional bending, squatting and above shoulder reaching.
  • Able to work with frequent walking and forward reaching.
  • Able to occasionally reposition a resident in bed, position in chair and transfer from bed to chair and vice versa.
  • Must be able to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when needed.
  • May be subject to call back during emergency conditions (severe weather, etc.)
  • May be subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB, AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
  • Must follow established procedures in handling and disposal of infectious waste and hazardous chemicals.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
